Artist Statement: For this project, I wanted to dance between the elements of musicality and sounds while using effects to create emotion. I wanted there to be a constant background sound of music that made you feel as though you're at a concert the whole time, but different things are happening around you and you can't focus. In the beginning, I tried to make the sound anxiety inducing and feel like you're on some sort of bad trip while at a concert. The distorted voices and jumbled sounds make you feel like you're actually there, not just listening to a live recording. Then, I used a leaf recording to calm it down a bit and then added in the calm recording of the saxophone playing. It was supposed to be a transition from being overstimulated and anxious to enjoying the moment.
